The Virginia Railway Express has asked Prince William County to help finish the kiss-and-ride project at the Woodbridge VRE station.
On Tuesday, the Prince William Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote to approve $613,509 - to be paid back by VRE - for work to be done by the county's Public Works Department staff.
The project is being paid for by the federal government and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2011. When finished, it will provide an access lane and pull-off area on the east side of U.S. 1 for commuters using the Woodbridge station. The station currently offers surface and garage parking as well as bike racks.
Also on Tuesday, the board is scheduled to approve its carryover budget from fiscal 2011. Up to $55 million can be carried over into the 2012, with $8.6 million recommended for general fund use and $2 million for the Park Authority to use for trail development.
Other highlights include $5.5 million recommended for an Informational Technology improvement plan and $7.8 million for the county's transportation reserve fund.
