PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Woodbridge physician Babur Lateef has announced his candidacy for the Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.
The 38-year-old eye surgeon will run on a Democratic ticket against Planning Commissioner Gary Friedman. Republican and current chairman Corey A. Stewart is expected to run for re-election while Republican and Haymarket Town Council member Robert Weir and Independent John Gray have also announced their candidacy.
“I am a father and a small business owner, and I can see firsthand that it’s time for a new vision for Prince William County,” Lateef said in a press release dated Wednesday.
Lateef’s wife Tarannum is a pediatric neurologist and advocate for special needs children. The couple lives with their four children in the Coles District.
