A report of shots fired in the Montclair area led to a massive manhunt Tuesday afternoon.
Prince William County police responded to the 6400 block of Marshall Court at 12:06 p.m. Tuesday after a caller reported hearing shots fired and seeing a vehicle leaving the area, said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Police responded to the area and saw a vehicle matching the description given by the caller.
Officers stopped the car at Va. 234 and Country Club Drive and detained two men, but a third man, believed to be armed, fled on foot, prompting a massive manhunt, Perok said.
Prince William County police and K-9 units, Virginia State police and U.S. park rangers searched the area along Va. 234 and found the third man in a neighborhood near Prince William Forest Park.
The man did not have a firearm with him and police were still searching for the firearm late Tuesday afternoon.
It’s unclear where the shots were fired or if anyone was hit. Police found no one injured in the area and are continuing their investigation, Perok said.
