Car stolen in Manassas
Police are investigating the theft of a 1999 silver-colored Pontiac Grand Prix Monday afternoon in Manassas, officers said.
The car’s owner told police he left his car unlocked and running while he got food at a store in the 9600 block of Grant Ave., near the Grant Ave. Shopping Center, at 7:30 p.m., according to Manassas police Sgt. Eddie Rivera.
The victim returned after purchasing his food and saw the thief driving away in his car, police said.
He tried to chase his car on foot but was unsuccessful.
The victim could not give police a description of the car thief.
Laptop stolen from Manassas-area home
A laptop, valued at $1,000, was stolen from a home in the 11200 block of Lady Jane Loop, in the Bull Run Condo neighborhood outside of Manassas, between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. Nov. 2, police said.
Although police did not find any signs of forced entry at the home, they do believe the burglar got in through an unlocked patio door, according to Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Copper piping stolen from The Plains-area home
Copper piping, valued at $200, was stolen from a home in the 5300 block of James Madison Highway, near the Great Meadow Field Events Center outside of The Plains, between Oct. 31 and Nov. 4, deputies said.
The burglar broke into the home by removing a window air conditioning unit on the basement level, Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. James Hartman said.

Broken cell phone, play wallet stolen from Manassas Park resident
A broken cell phone, play wallet with used gift cards, and a Nikos cell phone, valued at $270, were stolen from a Manassas Park resident at 5 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Four to five men were inside the victim's 1994 Ford Ranger when the victim walked out of a home in the 8000 block of Inyo Place on the east end of the city, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
The men, who wore dark clothing—one with a zip up jacket and another with a bushy ponytail—ran when the victim came up to them, police said.
Tools stolen from Gainesville-area home
Tools and other items, valued at $270, were stolen from an attached garage at a home in the 13600 block of Suffolk Place, in the Laurianne Woods neighborhood near Gainesville, between 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Police believe the burglar got into the garage through an open door.
