Supervisor puts out call for help for Woodbridge flood victims

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Twenty-nine families flooded out of their homes last week -- 140 people in all -- need new homes when an emergency shelter run by the Red Cross closes Friday.

Prince William County Supervisor Frank Principi, D-Woodbridge, has put out a call for rental property owners to help.

“If you have property or know of properties that these families could rent, and that would waive a security deposit, first and last month rents, please contact communications@pwcgov.org,” he wrote on his New Woodbridge website Tuesday.

The shelter at the Sharon Baucom Dale City Recreation Center will close at noon Friday.

Residents of Holly Acres mobile home park in Woodbridge, and some in nearby Marumsco mobile home park, lost their homes, property and cars in Thursday’s flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee.

Potomac Crest Baptist Church is now accepting donations for flood victims. They are in need of clothes, toiletries and other daily essentials. The church is at 15418 Cardinal Drive in Woodbridge.
