A Haymarket teen was charged Friday afternoon after police said that they found illegal fireworks in her home, police said.
A man who lives at a home in the 15100 block of Stepping Stone Drive, in the Simmons Grove neighborhood, told police that he found the fireworks and other materials in a bedroom occupied by Erika Nikole Gregory, a family member, at 3:14 p.m., Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
The resident believed that Gregory could have possibly been using the supplies to build an explosive device, Perok said.
The joint investigation between county police, the county Fire Marshal’s office, and the Virginia State Police bomb disposal unit confirmed that the items found in Gregory’s bedroom were components to build pipe bombs, Perok said.
Officers searched Gregory’s car but did not find anything else, police said.
Gregory, 19, of the 15100 block of Stepping Stone Drive, was charged with possession of explosive materials and possession of illegal fireworks, Perok said.
Police did not have her bond information, or court date, immediately available.
Bristow-area man wanted for rape
A Bristow-area man is wanted by police after they said he raped a 12-year-old girl near Bristow on Sept. 2.
The victim told police that she ran away from her North Carolina home and was en route to Prince William County with Oscar Enrique Alay, someone she knew, according to Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
Alay and the girl allegedly became “sexually active” at a home in the 9900 block of Shallow Creek Loop, near the Va. 28 and Va. 234 intersection, at 4:05 p.m., police said.
The girl was returned to her family, but Alay could not be found, police said.
Alay, 20, of the 9900 block of Shallow Creek Loop, is wanted for rape, Perok said.
He was described to police as a Hispanic male, 5 foot 3 inches tall, 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, Perok said.
Police were unable to provide a picture of Alay.
Chantilly-area man charged with drug, alcohol possession
A Chantilly-area man faces drug and alcohol charges stemming from a Sept. 3 traffic stop in Manassas Park, police said.
Police pulled over Christian Wilson Estrada at the Manassas park Shopping Center, located at the intersection of Va. 28 and Manassas Drive, at 6:03 p.m. for a traffic violation, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
Police allege that alcohol and marijuana were found in Estrada’s car, and that his license was suspended, Barton said.
Estrada, 20, of the 3900 block of Burning Bush Court, near the Va. 50 and Fairfax County Parkway intersection, was charged with possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license, underage possession of alcohol, and failure to obey a highway sign, Barton said.
Estrada has a court date of Oct. 27.
Manassas Park police did not provide a mugshot of Estrada.
Two men steal beer from M. Park store
Manassas Park police are on the lookout for two men who they said stole four cases of beer from, and damaged, a city 7-Eleven store early Tuesday morning.
The men broke into the store, which is located at 8521 Centreville Road, near the Manassas Park shopping center, at 2:57 a.m., stole the beer valued at $59.94, and also cracked a window in the store’s front door, according to Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton.
The men were described to police as being two Hispanic men.
One shoplifter wore a baseball cap, while the other wore a white polo shirt, Barton said.
Copper piping stolen from Dale City home
Copper piping, valued at $100, was stolen from a vacant home in the 4500 block of Hawk Court, in the Hillendale neighborhood of Dale City between midnight Aug. 10 and 3:20 p.m. Sept. 12, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Police did not find any signs of forced entry at the home.

Copper theft causes $2,500 damage at Dale City home
Copper piping, valued at $80, was stolen from a vacant home in the 14300 block of Fairmont Court, in the Forestdale neighborhood of Dale City, between 8 a.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said that the burglar broke into the home through an unlocked door and caused $2,500 in damage to the home’s water heater and to carpet in the basement after stealing the copper.

A gaming system valued at $170, and an undisclosed amount of money, were stolen from the Club House of the Victory Lakes neighborhood of Bristow, which is located at 12600 Victory Lakes Loop, between 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Police did not see any signs of forced entry.
Television stolen from Dale City home
A television, valued at $500, was stolen from a home in the 4600 block of Telfair Court, near the Cardinal Crossing neighborhood of Dale City, between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Police believe the burglar broke out a rear window to get into the home.
Resident witnesses M. Park car break-in
A Manassas Park resident told police that they caught two men breaking into a car parked on West Carondelet Drive, near Primrose Lane on the east side of the city at 9:27 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The resident saw the two men opening the unlocked car door of the 2007 Dodge and rummaging through its contents, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
The men ran away from the car after the witness yelled at them, police said.
Police soon found out that a Nintendo DS, valued at $145, was stolen from the car.
GPS unit stolen from M. Park car
A Magellan Roadmate GPS unit, valued at $175, was stolen from the center console of a car parked in front of a home in the 200 block of Kirby Street, on the west end of Manassas Park, city police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
Car window broken n M. Park
A resident who lives in the 8200 block of White Pine Drive, on the east end of Manassas Park, told police that somebody broke the front passenger-side window on his 2002 Ford Pickup at 11 p.m. Sept. 3, causing $100 in damage, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
The victim told police that he had heard glass breaking soon beforehand and saw a large group outside, but thought the noise was from a bottle breaking, Barton said.
Items stolen from M. Park home
A skateboard and two bicycles, valued at $160, were stolen from outside a home in the 9400 block of Elm Court, on the east side of Manassas Park, between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 4, according to Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton.
AC units stolen from M. Park home
A resident who lives in the 200 block of Kent Drive, on the west end of Manassas Park, told police that somebody stole two used air conditioning units, valued at $120, from the backyard of his home between 7 p.m. Sept. 2 and 7 p.m. Sept. 3, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
Tire flattened in M. Park
A Manassas Park resident, who lives in the 100 block of Scott Drive, on the west end of the city, told police that somebody removed the tire valve stem from the drivers-side front tire of his 2004 Ford Explorer, between 8 p.m. Sept. 2 and 11:30 a.m. Sept. 3, causing $100 in damage from a flattened tire, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
