Police say a man shot himself it the parking lot of Sentara Potomac Hospital on Opitz Boulevard this morning.
It happened inside a car in the parking lot about 6 a.m., said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. The man did not threaten anyone and there was no threat to those at the hospital, he said.
The car was parked in an empty area of the parking lot.
The hospital facility was placed in lockdown as a precaution, Perok said.
Police are still on the scene. The man has not been identified.
