A Manassas-area man faces charges after police said he tried to rape a woman Wednesday night.
A 19-year-old Manassas woman told police she was walking in the 8000 block of Sudley Road, Bull Run area, around 7 p.m. when a man she did not know approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. The victim suffered minor injuries.
The suspect, later identified by police as Javon Rustin Paige Paige, ran away after a brief struggle with the victim, according to police.
With the help of U.S. Marshals, detectives identified 24-year-old Paige as a suspect and arrested him without incident, police said.
Paige, of 8152 Claremont St., was charged with attempted rape, sexual battery and solicitation, Perok said.
He was held without bond.
