A 17-year-old boy charged with shooting his father in the head will stand trial as an adult, court records state.
A grand jury in Prince William Circuit Court this week indicted Dominique Jordan Singleton, of the 15700 block of Beau Ridge Drive in Dale City, on charges of attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to court records.
Singleton is accused of shooting his father in the back of the head while he was sleeping in their Dale City home Sept. 17.
According to court records, Singleton took a small black handgun that belonged to his father, pointed it at the back of his father’s head and pulled the trigger. The 49-year-old man was taken to an area hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries and survived, police said at the time.
According to the court documents, the man still has bullet fragments in his head as a result of the shooting.
At the time of the teen’s arrest, police said the shooting appeared to result from previous disagreements between the son and father.
Singleton’s trial date was not available Tuesday.
