Danny Glass, a man featured in the News & Messenger and other area publications for overcoming homelessness, has been charged with the aggravated sexual battery of an 11-year-old girl.
Police arrested Danny Glass, also known as “J.D. Glass,” after they said an investigation revealed that he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl he knew between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 in 2011 and again between Dec. 1, 2011 and Jan. 3 of this year, according to a Prince William police press release.
According to police, the assaults occurred in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue in Woodbridge.
Glass, 56, of the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, was charged with four counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of indecent liberties.
A court date was unavailable.
He was held without bond.
Some residents will remember that about a decade ago Glass was a fixture at the Target store on Prince William Parkway, where he sat daily and panhandled with his dog, Bob.
Glass was featured in an interview in the Potomac News after area advocates for the homeless found him and asked him questions for a survey designed to determine the population and condition of the county's homeless.
The Potomac News again reported on the pair after Glass briefly lost Bob.
Glass was also featured in the News & Messenger and the Washington Post in recent years for overcoming liver disease, alcohol abuse and homelessness.
