A Manassas-area man is dead after a stabbing Sunday night.

According to police, Edwin Noe Enamorado Matute, 22, and Elvin Yobex Guzman Lopez, 21, argued near Parkland St. and Old Centreville Rd.

Enamorado Matute tried to run from Guzman Lopez, but fell.

“The accused jumped on top of the victim and stabbed him multiple times before witnesses intervened,” Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said in a press release.

Witnesses helped Enamorado Matute back to his home in the 7600 block of Somerset Lane and called police. Crews attempted CPR and transported Enamorado Matute to a local hospital, where he died.

Perok said officers identified Guzman Lopez, of no fixed address, as a suspect and arrested him near the stabbing scene. He was charged with first degree murder and held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 16.
