A Lake Ridge woman faces charges after police said she lied about an attempted robbery on Jan. 22.

Tonni Lee Craft told police a man she did not know tried to take items she just purchased as she was loading them in her car at the Sunoco, 3220 Old Bridge Road, Lake Ridge, at 10:49 p.m., Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.

Craft told police the man ran away and didn’t take anything.  She wasn’t hurt.

The police investigation revealed Craft lied to officers about the incident, Perok said.

Craft, 39, of 12241 Thyme Lane, was charged with filing a false police report, Perok said.

She was released on a summons and has a court date of April 5.

Police did not release a mugshot of Craft.

Staff writer David Pierce can be reached at 703-530-3905.
