A tow truck driver was assaulted by two teens after he attempted to tow an illegally parked vehicle in Woodbridge Saturday, Prince William County police said.
Police responded to reports of an attempted robbery in the 16600 block of Galt Court in Woodbridge at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok.
A 28-year-old Fredericksburg man told police he was preparing to tow an illegally parked car when three teen boys approached him.
One teen told the man he was the driver of the car about to be towed and an argument ensued, Perok said.
The tow truck driver was trying to call police when one of the teens assaulted him and tried to take the phone, Perok said.
The teens ran away, but a police K-9 unit found them in the area, Perok said.
A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Woodbridge, were charged with robbery.
The teens are being held at the Juvenile Detention Center and their court dates were not available Monday.
Police determined the third teen was not involved and was not charged.
