The Battlefield Bobcat's marching band will take center stage during tonight's BCS National Championship game in New Orleans.

Led by director Matt Brodt, they will be the only marching band on the field during the pre-game show and will also hold the flag during the national anthem, according to Prince William County Schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer.

Catherina Hurlburt, publicity coordinator for the band, said they will perform with other bands during the half-time show as well.

Cromer says the 175 students competed Saturday for the chance to play before the crowd tonight, and were told they won during an awards banquet Sunday evening.

LSU and Alabama face off in tonight's game, which can be seen on ESPN.
