A man suspected of ambushing and slashing the buttocks of as many as six women at Fairfax County department stores has been captured at a mall in Lima, Peru, according to Peruvian media outlets.
Johnny D. Guillen Pimentel was arrested Friday, according to the newspaper Peru21, quoting Interpol officials.
The attacks in Fairfax began last February and continued through July. In each case, the culprit distracted young women as they shopped and then slashed them on the buttocks. The attacks happened at the Marshall's department store in the Greenbriar shopping center, the T.J. Maxx at Fairfax Towne Center, the H&M atTysons Corner Mall and the Ann Taylor store, Champs and Forever XXI, all at Fair Oaks mall.
Fairfax County police told nbcwashington.com that they have been notified of Pimental's arrest by local authorities and will begin extradition proceedings once they independently confirm that he is in custody.
