A Haymarket-area man faces assault and wounding charges after police said he assaulted two people on separate occasions.
One of the victims, an 18-year-old Haymarket man, told police Mir-Adham Yusupov, a man he knew, reportedly struck him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground, during a verbal argument at a home on the 5800 block of Malvern Hill Court, Haymarket area, at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Yusupov apparently continued to strike the victim after he fell to the ground, causing serious but non life-threatening injuries.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
Police believe the argument was the result of another recent incident where Yusupov reportedly assaulted a 14-year-old Haymarket girl, who is apparently a relative of the 18-year-old victim, Perok said.
The girl sustained minor injuries.
Yusupov, 23, of the 5800 block of Malvern Hill Court, was charged with malicious wounding [male victim] and domestic assault and battery [female victim], Perok said.
Yusupov has two separate court dates stemming from the incidents.
He was held on a $7,500 secured bond and has a court date of Feb. 15 for his malicious wounding charge.
Police did not have Yusupov’s court date for the domestic assault and battery available.
