The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office would like the public’s assistance in helping to identify a man who approached a 10-year-old girl in the Amyclae subdivision of Stafford County.
On Friday at about 8 a.m., the girl was outside her home on Nugent Drive when the man, sitting in an older, white van, called out to her: “Come over here, I won’t hurt you.”
Instead, she ran back into the house.
“I applaud the actions of the young lady during this incident,” said Stafford Sheriff Charles Jett in a released statement. “Her response of ignoring the subject’s request, running back into her house and notifying her parents was exactly what should have been done.”
Police said that while the incident is not an attempted abduction it is suspicous in nature. A composite drawing of the suspect has been released.
He is white with no facial hair and he wore a black hooded sweatshirt, according to the description.
Anyone with information on the identity of the man is asked to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s office immediately at (540) 658-4400.
