A Manassas man faces eluding charges after police said he drove away from officers in Manassas Park on Friday.
Officers said they saw Eric Ison sitting in his 2011 Kia on northbound Va. 28, near its intersection with Manassas Drive, at 6:12 a.m. with its brake lights on, Manassas Park police spokeswoman Karen Barton said.
The responding officer banged on the car window after Ison appeared to be unconscious, according to police.
He apparently awoke and drove off from police, which made the officer hit on the window again, demanding Ison stop, police said.
Ison reportedly drove away a second time after looking at the officer.
Police found the Kia at the intersection of Blooms Quarry Road and Euclid Avenue soon afterward.
An officer reached into Ison’s car to put it in park after he reportedly refused to do so.
Ison, 53, of Shady Grove Circle, was charged with DUI [third time in 10 years], driving while license is suspended, misdemeanor eluding police and unreasonable refusal, Barton said.
He was held without bond and has a court date of March 22.
