Police charged a Woodbridge man with abduction on Saturday after police said he tripped a girl and refused to let her leave his home.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl of Woodbridge, told police that Robin Jesse Gyebi reportedly came to her home and demanded she leave with him at 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
Gyebi reportedly “intentionally tripped” the victim, stole her phone, and brought her to his nearby home, 2903 Wetherburn Court, and kept her from leaving, police said.
The victim, who sustained minor injuries in the incident, told police that she got out of Gyebi’s home and called police after Gyebi apparently used the restroom.
Gyebi, 21, got away from his home before police arrived, but was charged with abduction, assault and battery and preventing the summonsing of law enforcement on Saturday when he was found, Perok said.
He was released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
His court date is not available.
