The Potomac Nationals won their first game this year 6-1 over the Salem Avalanche on Sunday.
The Nationals (1-2) broke open a close game by scoring three ninth inning runs.
Starting pitcher Ross Detwiler blanked Salem through five innings. He allowed three hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Ofilio Castro led Potomac’s offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Marvin Lowrance and Dee Brown both had two hits and scored a run for the Nationals.
Frank Diaz and Devin Ivany also drove in runs for Potomac.
