The Potomac Nationals return to Pfitzner Stadium tonight to begin a four-game homestand against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
They will also be looking to keep their win streak going.
Potomac won its 10th straight game on Wednesday, 4-3 over Lynchburg to sweep a three-game series from the Hillcats. This victory marks Lynchburg’s third straight series sweep and 12th straight win over the Hillcats dating back to 2007.
The Nationals (10-2) scored a run in the first, second, third and eighth innings. Marvin Lowrance hit his first home run, an eighth inning blast.
Matt Rogelstad went 3-for-4 for Potomac with a double, stolen base and run scored.
Starting pitcher Cory VanAllen improved to 2-0 after allowing one run on four hits in six in-nings. He walked two and struck out four.
Yunior Novoa tossed two and third innings and gave up a run on two hits. He recorded three strikeouts and no walks.
Josh Wilkie earned his first save, but not before the Hillcats made a stand in the ninth. With Lynchburg trailing 4-2, Jared Keel doubled with one out.
After Tony Mansolino popped out to Potomac shortstop Seth Bynum, Eddie Prasch singled to score Keel.
But Chris Jones flied out to end the game.
Devin Ivany and Ofilio Castro both had one hit for Potomac. Potomac leadoff hitter Jemel Spearman scored a run and stole his third base this year.
Potomac’s Steve Doetsch drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
