»  Comments | Post a Comment

Francisco Plasencia’s two-out single scored Dan Lyons in the top of the 12th inning to give the Potomac Nationals a 9-8 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Wednesday.
Potomac (28-21) survived four errors for its second straight victory.
Its bullpen was also unreliable in the late innings, having surrendered two runs in the eighth inning and one in the ninth.
Despite the shaky relief corps, Chris Rivera earned his first victory. He tossed two innings of shutout ball, striking out two.
Boomer Whiting continued his hot hitting. He went 3 for 5 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Potomac’s Sean Rooney also went 3 for 5 with an RBI.
Danny Espinosa had two doubles and two runs scored for the Nationals and Lyons scored three runs.
