Manny Ramirez of the Los Angeles Dodgers was suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for the use of a drug banned by the league's substance abuse policy.
Also on Thursday, Manny, being Manny, said he had did not take steroids and was prescribed medication by a doctor that contained the banned substance. When he received the medication, he and the doctor believed it was OK to use.
"I am sorry about this whole situation," Ramirez said in a written statement.
Yeah, he's sorry he got caught.
Ramirez was using a female fertility drug known as human chorinic gonadotropin (HCG).
Maybe that's why his hair is so long.
Well, thanks to Manny, now the all-star roster of idiots is now complete, right?
Probably not.
But hey, let's take a look at an all-star team that is sure to blow you away.
In the American League, here are your past users of performance enhancing drugs:
At first base, Jason Giambi -- who is one of the few who admitted to using the PED's and did something about it -- and Rafael Palmeiro.
At second base, Chuck Knoblach.
At third base, Alex Rodriguez and Troy Glaus.
At shortstop, not once but twice, Neifi Perez. A man who apparently loved his 25-game suspen-sion for his first failed attempt, he came back for a second one that totaled 80 games.
Behind the plate, Jim Leyritz and Ivan Rodriguez, who was implicated.
In the outfield, Jose Canseco (Mr. Steroid), Gary Sheffield and Jay Gibbons.
And on the mound, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Kevin Brown.
For the National League, at first base Mark McGwire, also implicated.
At second base, Bret Boone.
At third base, Matt Williams.
At shortstop, Miguel Tejada.
Behind the plate, Mike Piazza and Benito Santiago.
In the outfield, Barry Bonds, David Justice, Rick Ankiel and the newest member, Manny Rami-rez.
And on the mound, Denny Neagle, Eric Gagne and Jason Grimsley.
There you have it. We have had enough players cheat that we now have enough to make an all-star team from both leagues.
So, are you as a fan of the game had enough of the cheating?
Well, if you haven't, just wait. Another idiot will surface in the near future.
