Hylton High School senior Justin Bhatti signed this weekend with Norfolk State's baseball team. The 6-3 righthanded pitcher/shortstop started all 23 games last season for the Bulldogs in helping them reach the Northwest Region Tournament semifinals.
Bhatti, who signed with Norfolk State as a pitcher, hit .338 last season with a team-high 18 RBI and 21 runs scored. As a pitcher, he went 2-5 with a 4.85 ERA in 39 innings (which tied for the team lead). He also had 32 strikeouts.
Bhatti is the second Hylton pitcher to sign with Norfolk State. Joel Himan, a 2009 graduate, is a freshman there now.
