Former P-Nat to play in Arizona Fall League

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Former Potomac Nationals catcher Sean Rooney has been named to the Phoenix Desert Dogs roster in the Arizona Fall League.
Rooney is replacing Derek Norris, who broke a hamate bone working in the Washington Nationals’ instructional league.
Rooney started the 2009 season at Potomac and hit .300 with six home runs and 40 RBI before being promoted to Double-A Harrisburg.
He is one of three catchers Phoenix is carrying.
He joins fellow Washington farmhands and former P-Nats Danny Espinosa and Chris Marrero and pitchers Drew Storen, Josh Wilkie and Jeff Mandel on the roster.
Pitcher Stephen Strasburg is also with Phoenix.
The Arizona Fall League was expected to start play Oct. 13.
