A grand slam from Tyler Moore and a solo home run from Sean Rooney helped the Potomac Nationals fight back against their Grainger Stadium curse.
The Nationals, who have had little success at the Kinston Indians’ home park, scored five first inning runs and four more in the third to defeat the Indians 9-1 on Wednesday.
Moore’s home run was his league-leading 25th of the year.
The offensive output gave starting pitcher Trevor Holder plenty of breathing room.
Holder struck out five, allowed a home run and three hits as he improved to 2-2 with the victory.
Potomac (29-22 second half, 60-61 overall) leads the Northern Division by two games in the race to clinch the second half title.
Moore, Francisco Soriano and Derek Norris each had two hits for Potomac.
Chris Curran doubled and drove in a run.
