Monica Wright (Forest Park) was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team.
The former Virginia women’s basketball All-American and ACC Player of the Year started 24 games and played in 34. Scoring in double digits in 19 games, Wright averaged 11.1 points, second among rookies. Wright scored a career-high and rookie-high for the season with 32 points in a 92-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury on June 1.
Joining Wright on the All-Rookie Team were Tina Charles (Connecticut Sun), Kalana Greene (New York Liberty), Kelsey Griffin (Connecticut Sun) and Epiphanny Prince (Chicago Sky). Wright and Charles each received 11 votes, while Greene, Griffin and Prince each got 10.
Wright was the second overall pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx.
