The Potomac Nationals concluded their series with the Frederick Keys by winning 7-5 on Thurs-day.
Home runs from Bill Rhinehart and Tim Pahuta helped Potomac snap a three-game losing streak.
Pahuta hit his 10th round-tripper of the year and also doubled. He knocked in three runs on the afternoon.
Brian Peacock went 2 for 5 with a double and run scored. Robby Jacobsen had two hits, including a double and two RBI.
Jose Lozada also had two hits, stole a base and scored a run.
Nationals starting pitcher Patrick Lehman allowed five runs on five hits in five innings.
But Lehman picked up his second victory. He also struck out three.
Cory VanAllen pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Cole Kimball pitched the final two to earn his sixth save.
Both had four strikeouts.
Novaks' gymnasts fare well
The VAOP Novice gymnasts from Novaks competed at the Virginia All-Stars State Champion-ships last weekend. Alysa Vinson, a 9-year-old VAOP Novice, was the all-around champion for her age group and won gold medals on vault and the uneven bars and a silver medal on the bal-ance beam and floor exercise. Ava Manne, a 7-year-old VAOP Novice, won a silver medal on the floor exercise. Melanie Mastin won a gold medal on the uneven bars and a silver medal on the floor exercise and the vault. Georgia Applegate won a silver medal on the uneven bars.
News & Messenger scholar-athlete nominations
The News & Messenger is currently accepting nominations for the paper's male and female scholar-athlete of the year award for senior high-school student-athletes who attend high schools in Prince William County, Manassas Park and Manassas City.
The nominations should include the following information: cumulative grade point average in high school, class rank, college, high school athletic honors and high school academic honors.

Please include a contact number as well. The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 21st.

The News & Messenger is in the process of collecting information on senior high school athletes who attend high schools in Prince William County, Manassas Park and Manassas City who will be playing sports in college.
