Cardinal District Player of the Year and all-Northwest Region, this midfielder directed the offense from the middle of the field with ease … With excellent stick skills, Fessenden finished with five goals and 14 assists … Considered the team’s best athlete, Fessenden was one of two Bruins who usually began every play the team had going into the circle.
How did you get involved with field hockey?
“From my mom. She knew I was looking for a sport to do in the fall.”
Where do you think you improved the most this season from last season?
“I would say my stick skills and passing the ball to my teammates.”
What do you like best about field hockey?
“I like that it is a team sport and there is always someone around if you mess up. And you get to hit the ball as hard as possible.”
What was your most memorable moment this season?
“The seniors had a practice and all of us were cheating. It’s the most illegal game I’ve ever played.”
Why were you switched from forward last season to midfielder this season?
“My coach thought I could help move the ball more from the defense to the offense and give us more scoring options.”
The second-year coach did an amazing job in turning around a Raider program that won only one game in 2010, while also just scored one goal and giving up 70 more. This season, Stonewall Jackson went 8-7 overall and 5-1 in the Cedar Run District. The Raiders also won the district title and advanced to regionals.
Forward totaled 15 assists and nine goals, including four game-winners to finish as the Cedar Run District’s leading scorer …excellent playmaker who was all-district and second-team all-Northwest Region … named a U.S. Field Hockey Association Futures Player who competed in the U.S. Field Hockey Association Festival in Arizona Nov. 24-27.
Midfielder was the Vikings’ do-it-all player on offense and defense … finished with six goals and 12 assists for a team that went 9-8-1 … named all-Cardinal District and second-team all-Northwest Region.
A versatile midfielder for the Wolves, Donovan finished as the team’s leading scorer with 10 goals and six assists .. this is Donovan’s third straight appearance on the all-area team after being named the player of the year as a sophomore and junior.
A four-year varsity player, this forward provided much-needed experience for her younger teammates … Hylton’s captain, Eng scored 14 goals and added seven assists this season and finished her career with 28 goals and 18 assists … all-Cardinal District and second-team all-Northwest Region.
The Cedar Run District Player of the Year and second-team all-Northwest Region pick finished as the Raiders’ leading scorer with 15 goals and five assists … a converted soccer player who was just in her second season of playing field hockey, Ferrufino put her speed and athleticism to good use in helping the Raiders have a historic season.
Voted the top midfielder in the Cedar Run District, Jackson controlled the midfield with her strong stick skills and her athleticism … the all-Northwest Region pick finished with seven goals and six assists and was named a U.S. Field Hockey Association Futures Player who competed in the U.S. Field Hockey Association Festival in Arizona Nov. 24-27.
Cedar Run District and second-team all-Northwest Region selection finished with a 0.93 goals against average … she also had a .827 save percentage and three shutouts. She also combined for five more shutouts with her backup.
Very steady central defender who provided great leadership in the back for the Raiders … all-Cedar Run District and second-team all-Northwest Region.
Experienced defender over three years who used her speed and leadership to form the backbone of the Yellow Jackets’ defense this season … all-Cardinal District and all-Northwest Region performer who competed in the U.S. Field Hockey Association Festival in Arizona Nov. 24-27.
Defensive center midfielder, Stephenson possessed a strong drive and excellent field vision .. she was also a clutch scorer, recording two of Forest Park’s three overtime goals … all-Cardinal District and 2nd-team all-Northwest Region selection.
Forward who totaled six goals and three assists this season for the Yellow Jackets … named all-Cardinal District and second-team all-Northwest Region.
