Teams to watch

BATTLEFIELD
Battlefield looks to be a significant challenger in what will shape up to be a strong Cedar Run District with Broad Run and Freedom-South Riding in the mix.

BRENTSVILLE
The Tigers return some wrestlers with experience. Four state qualifiers are back. Two sophomores, Brenden Velez and Justice Jacobs, were freshmen state champions last season and are trying to improve.

FOREST PARK
The Bruins remain stocked with talent. Two of their best wrestlers from a year ago, Dennis Gustafson (126) and Kevin Johnson (145), return. The lineup of newcomers looks promising and ready to go.

MANASSAS PARK
Expectations should be high. Manassas Park returns eight finishers from last year’s Group A state wrestling meet. Combine that with a mix of new wrestlers and Manassas Park should be strong.

OSBOURN
Osbourn put together a terrific 2011 Cedar Run District tournament. Kyle Hollcroft, Christian Garcia, Herbert Berrios and Nathan Tabelon lead a talented squad seeking to repeat as district champion.
